In 2018, they were only thirty vaquitas left in the wild, endemic to the Upper Gulf of California México, the smallest cetacean in the world was on the brink of extinction. A heartfelt ceremony was orchestrated in Mexico´s City Tamayo and Anthropological Museums, to honor the species and mourn the loss of 95 percent of its population.
